Editorial in der New York Times:

 At a Republican primary debate last year, Mr. Romney was asked whether emergency management was a function that should be returned to the states. He not only agreed, he went further.

“Absolutely,” he said. “Every time you have an occasion to take something from the federal government and send it back to the states, that’s the right direction. And if you can go even further and send it back to the private sector, that’s even better.” Mr. Romney not only believes that states acting independently can handle the response to a vast East Coast storm better than Washington, but that profit-making companies can do an even better job. He said it was “immoral” for the federal government to do all these things if it means increasing the debt.

Jeder für sich selbst. Sollen doch der Tornado-Staat Oklahoma seine eigenen Satelliten ins Weltall schießen, um die Bildung von Sturmzellen zu entdecken. Soll doch Louisiana den Mississippi mit eigenen Deichen absichern – aber natürlich nur auf der einen Seite des Flusses.  Die andere Seite liegt ja im Staat Mississippi. Der bessere Deich gewinnt!

Q: What do you think Paul Ryan’s obsession with her work would mean if he were vice president?

Obama: Well, you’d have to ask Paul Ryan what that means to him. Ayn Rand is one of those things that a lot of us, when we were 17 or 18 and feeling misunderstood, we’d pick up. Then, as we get older, we realize that a world in which we’re only thinking about ourselves and not thinking about anybody else, in which we’re considering the entire project of developing ourselves as more important than our relationships to other people and making sure that everybody else has opportunity – that that’s a pretty narrow vision. It’s not one that, I think, describes what’s best in America. Unfortunately, it does seem as if sometimes that vision of a „you’re on your own“ society has consumed a big chunk of the Republican Party

2. The philosophy of objectivism is absolutely repugnant to me (and also does not hold up to scrutiny). The philosophy of selfishness is all built around the idea that the person ingesting the philosophy feels special (i.e., that we all identify with John Galt), and of course we do all identify with John Galt, because we all feel that the world is against us and we are secretly a unique flower that could bloom brilliantly if only we did not have to carry the weight of other, lesser people.

Das Problem der Menschheit liegt darin begründet, dass 50% von uns nicht intelligent genug sind, um dies zu verstehen, 1% es ausnutzen, und 99% darunter leiden.

Anders ausgedrückt: Rands Ideen werden von Menschen die den Hot Button auslösen wollen und Homöopathische Mittel gegen Schnupfen nehmen mit Kusshand aufgenommen.

Gott was würd ich dafür geben wäre ich doch genau so. Wenn ich dastehen könnte, daran glauben würde, dass Wasser mit hochverdünntem Arsen gegen Kopfschmerzen hilft, dass wilder Sex ohne Gummi geil ist, dass ich nicht zurück rufen muss nach dem ersten Date, dass Ausländer scheiße sind und dass man sich am besten überall raus hält anstatt seine Meinung zu sagen.

Alles wäre so schön einfach. Voller Hass und Missgunst und dem Gefühl, dass wenn ich nicht so viel Steuern für die faulen Arbeitslosen zahlen müsste mein Leben so viel besser wäre. Im State Sebistan.
